All Snapt ADCs (Nova and Aria) come with a powerful load balancer, web application firewall (WAF), GSLB and web accelerator for AWS, and can be launched in the Amazon marketplace.
Amazon’s Elastic Load Balancer (ELB) and ALB (application load balancer) provide only the bare essentials for load balancing. They don't offer WAF, GSLB, advanced health monitoring or other key features, and they can become complex and expensive if you need to scale out.
Snapt Nova and Aria include a Web Application Firewall (WAF) to filter HTTP / Layer 7 traffic. AWS Elastic Load Balancer does not have a WAF and you can't run a WAF in front of ELB.
Snapt Nova and Aria include comprehensive monitoring, health checks and reporting, and the metrics are available over API. In AWS Elastic Load Balancer (ELB) there are no external connectors or APIs for accessing logs in DataDog, NewRelic and cloud-native time-series DBs.
Snapt Nova and Aria support custom rules, policies and settings for more complicated applications. AWS Elastic Load Balancer (ELB) does not support rules or policies and does not allow for customized settings for retries and timeouts.
Snapt Nova and Aria are designed for high-performance internal east-west load balancing between components and microservices. AWS Elastic Load Balancer does not support internal load balancing – you have to send traffic back out to the public internet, adding a significant security risk.
