What is Buffer Overflow?

by Iwan Price-Evans on Security • August 16, 2019

This causes the data to 'leak' or overflow into adjacent memory locations which could lead sometimes to adverse and unpredictable conditions depending on what the presence of the excess data means to programs or processes that are using this adjacent memory location.

By inspecting data sent to web servers, web application firewall devices can protect servers against unauthorized and suspicious client requests that might induce a buffer overflow condition in backend servers.
